New Delhi: India must grow by 10.5-11 per cent in real terms in the next fiscal year and it continues to suffer massive adverse effects from the COVID-19 Rajiv Kumar, vice president of Niti Aayog, said on Friday.
Kumar further said India should be prepared for the next pandemic as the country was caught unprepared during the COVID-19 pandemic.
‘We need to grow by 10.5 to 11 percent in real terms by 2021-22 and then continue to face the serious adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, ”he said as he addressed a virtual event hosted by the National CSR Network.
India’s economy is projected to shrink by 8 percent in fiscal 2020-21.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) forecast India’s economic growth at 10.5 per cent in 2021-22, while chief economic adviser KV Subramanian predicted 11 per cent growth for the same period.
The vice-president of Niti Aayog also noted that the Indian economy is now recovering.
