LUDHIANA: Continuing the work on
awareness drive, health department’s team today visited the
shopping malls of the city to sensitise customers and
sales staff about
Covid-19 norms to avoid getting the situation out of control.
This drive is part of an intensified awareness campaign being run by district administration and
health team to tackle the increasing cases of Covid-19.
The team of awareness drive is being led by department’s mass media wing which includes officers and block extension educators.
Dr Sukhjiwan Kakkar, civil surgeon said that if precautions are not followed, the situation can go out of control.
“However situation is currently not out of control and we should not wait for it to reach that level, so we should follow all the precautions religiously like we did in first wave of covid and tackled it. Similarly this second wave can also be handled easily if we keep our mask on and follow social distancing and wash our hands after every short while,” he said.
Block extension educator Jagjeevan Sharma said in today’s visit in malls it was seen that people were lenient in following Covid norms.
Though there was thermal screening at every mall’s entry point but the moment people entered the malls they were removing their masks which should not be done. He said, in malls the sales person, customers and store managers were asked to strictly follow the covid norms so that they can reduce the risk of spreading the virus. “All the staff and general public in these malls was also made aware about the vaccination drive” he said.
