District Central Cooperative Banks spread across Uttarakhand have recovered Rs 112 crore under the Debt Collection campaign initiated recently at the behest of the State Cooperative Minister Dhan Singh Rawat.
In a video statement released on the fakebook wall of Cooperative Department the Uttarakhand Minister said, “Our state is the first state which has launched the NPA recovery campaign on a large scale and so far we have recovered over Rs 112 crore. I am happy that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Nabard have congratulated me for this initiative”.
“We have recovered NPAs from those borrowers who are having the business turnover of more than Rs 50 lakh. Our ten DCCBs spread across the state are in profit and our NPA percentage has declined to 10%. And we hope that under this campaign we will recover Rs 250 crore till the end of the current financial year. After this the NPA rate will come down to five percent”, he said.
Officials and employees of district central cooperative banks are trying their level best to collect bad loans from the borrowers. Indian Cooperative has published news related to the NPA recovery campaign. highlighting how officials taking risks and travelling by trolleys are busy recovering loans from the villages.
The Cooperative Minister himself is also active at the ground level and regularly holding meetings with the concerned officials. Earlier, State Registrar of Cooperative Societies B M Mishra had presided over a meeting of Secretaries and General Managers of DCCBs in this connection. Additional Registrar Mrs. Ira Upreti had also attended the meeting.
Talking to Indian Cooperative the RCS said, the total outstanding NPA amount of the state co-operative bank is 186.03 crore and the amount recovered is over Rs 100 crore. There are 10 DCCBs in the state and their NPA amounts to Rs 665.36 crore. The banks are taking action against the borrowers under the Sarfaesi Act.
The officers of the cooperative department are also meeting officials of SCB and DCCBs through video conferencing and directing them to expedite the work of NPA recovery.
