- The man accused of the murder of horse lover Meghan Cremer in Cape Town wants to change lawyers.
- This meant the trial had to be postponed again to deal with this matter.
- Cremer lived on a farm in Philippi and after her body was found a general worker at the farm was arrested for murder.
The man charged with the murder of Meghan Cremer who lived on a farm in Philippi, Cape Town, has requested a new lawyer.
Cremer, an avid horse rider, went missing in August 2019. She failed to return to the Vaderlandsche Rietvlei Stables and did not arrive for work.
Her body was found dumped at a sand mine in Olieboom Road, Philippi, on 8 August 2019, with a blue ribbon tightly wound around her neck.
The State believes she was attacked in her cottage on 3 August and then strangled.
Jeremy Sias, a general worker on the farm, was arrested on a charge of murder.
Cremer's bank card was used to make withdrawals at an ATM.
Sias appeared in the Western Cape High Court in Cape Town on Friday for a pre-trial conference, but matters stalled as he said he wanted to change lawyers.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila said his case was postponed to 14 May for another pre-trial conference.
He added that Sias will have to appeal to the Legal Aid board for a new lawyer to be appointed.
