WhatsApp down in India
The outage tracking website Downdetector shows that WhatsApp and Instagram users in the country are facing issues in accessing both the applications.
Downdetector also shows that Facebook is down for some users. We checked all three apps and found that Facebook is working fine while WhatsApp and Instagram are down.
Going by the outage tracking website, these apps have been down since 11pm IST.
Users of WhatsApp and Instagram have taken to microblogging site Twitter to complain about the massive outage.
Meanwhile, hashtags like #whatsappdown and #instagramdown have started trending on the platform. Some users have also started creating memes to troll WhatsApp and Instagram.
WhatsApp and Instagram have not confirmed the reason behind the massive outage neither have they acknowledged the issue.
We will update this space once we get an update from the company.
At the moment, WhatsApp is showing “connecting” issue, which means the app is not loading. Similar is the case with the photo-sharing platform. Instagram is also not loading for users in the country.
WhatsApp users are unable to send or receive messages. Similarly, Instagram users are unable to load their timeline, post photos, stories or reels.
Meanwhile, #telegram has started trending on Twitter. This is because Telegram is one of the alternatives to the Facebook-owned messaging platform. There’s Signal too.
Well, if you are an active WhatsApp and Instagram user you will know that this isn’t the first time that these Facebook apps have suffered a massive outage.
