Hi
I am looking to upgrade my SolidWorks laptop for SW2021. I will be using the machine for light SW modeling & assemblies (100 - 200 components). However - I will be using the laptop heavily in the SW rendering mode. I have read that the gaming laptops with the Nvidia GTX-1050 / 1060 series cards will do a better job with the rendering than some of the certified SW cards. The laptop will be a 9th generation I7 processor with 16GB to 32GB of RAM. (For reference - the GTX 1050 & 1060 have 4GB / 6GB of memory on them respectively). Does anyone have any experience / knowledge on this?
Hello,
I don't believe, that the entry-level gaming cards like 1050 / 1060 will perform very well with Visualize. Is Visualize the tool you are talking about, when you say "rendering"? Or do you mean PhotoView360? It makes a great difference, because Visualize renders on the GPU and PV360 on the CPU.
Or do you mean just mean the RealView in SOLIDWORKS? This is supported on Quadro cards only, not on the (GeForce) GTX cards you have mentioned.
So please: Clarify.
