As Covid-19 cases surge, several states reimpose restrictions

NEW DELHI: As Covid-19 cases surge in various parts of the country restrictions were imposed. The administration issued guidelines and introduced night curfew in Maharashtra, Punjab and several cities where the cases have increased.
On Friday, India reported 39,726 new coronavirus cases, its highest in more than three months.
Here is a list of curbs introduced by various states.

Maharashtra

Drama Halls/ Auditoriums to not be used for any religious/ social/ political/ cultural gatherings. If found violating the norms, the premise will be shut down till the time Covid-19 is notified as a disaster by the Centre.

All drama theatres and auditoriums in the state to operate on 50% capacity with the following restrictions

Private offices have been asked to function at a 50% capacity.
The government has asked the department heads of government and semi-government offices to decide on the required number of staff.
The manufacturing sector can function at 100% capacity. To maintain social distancing, manufacturing units may be allowed to increase the working shifts as approved by the local authorities.

All offices should impose the following restrictions.
* No entry will be allowed without proper wearing of Masks.
* Temperature measuring devices to be used to ensure no one with fever gets an entry.
* Adequate hand sanitisers to be kept at various convenient locations.

Punjab

Night curfew from 9 pm to be announced in 11 districts where cases rising.
To contain the spread, colleges, schools to be closed, only medical colleges to remain open.
Cinema halls operate at 50% capacity and not more than 100 persons in a mall at any time.
From next week, one hour of silence to be observed in the state every Saturday,11 am-12 noon, for those who lost their lives to Covid, with no vehicle to ply at this time

Karnataka

Seeing the surge (Covid-19 cases) in Maharashtra and Kerala, it was inevitable that it would happen here too hence we were pre-prepared to handle this. CM has given few more days to the public to cooperate else we may hike fine on not wearing masks, said Karnataka health minister K Sudhakar

Gujarat

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation decides to shut malls and multiplexes on Saturdays-Sundays due to Covid-19.
