COVID-19: Night clock set in Amritsar

Amritsar: Amid boom COVID-19 cases, a night clock was set in Amritsar as a precaution against the virus.

The city has 230 new cases of COVID-19 on March 18th.

“The prime minister ordered a curfew in the city between 11pm and 5am,” said Parvesh Chopra, assistant police commissioner (Central).

Prior to the Holi celebrations, shopkeepers in Amritsar said their businesses were being adversely affected by increasing cases of COVID-19.

Punjab reports 2,387 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, the state health department notified Thursday.

Meanwhile, Jalandhar District Collector Ghanshyam Thori and Ludhiana District Collector Varinder Sharna set a night clock in the respective districts on Thursday night.

The curfew rule will still be instituted from 21:00 to 05:00 until further orders.

With the fresh COVID-19 cases, the total number of cases in the state now stands at 2,05,418.
