Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty plays a key role in Manchu Vishnu’s Moschallu which appeared on March 19. Although Shetty found it difficult to speak Telugu, he says the language is easy to understand. The 59-year-old actor, who looks very fit and does not grow old at all, talks about his exercise routine and shares fitness secrets with his co-star Vishnu.
Here are some excerpts:
What made you excited to do Mosagallu?
It’s always the screenplay and the director. It’s an exciting subject, it’s a Hollywood perspective. Jeffrey Chan directed. This is another way of looking at cinema and how they presented it. Two brothers and sisters end up in the corporate giants. My role wants them to be tried here. But they do it so cleverly without being caught by the system. True stories work these days and audiences love them. Lots of fun and very exciting.
Have you experienced problems with the Telugu language?
I think Telugu is not difficult to understand, but it is difficult to speak. The pauses, meaning of each word, are difficult. But with a good team, it’s manageable through directions. The film was shot mainly in English and then in Telugu. We also did the Hindi version. It is difficult to switch between different versions. But I did my best.
What’s your secret? You do not look old.
I am aware of what I am eating. I have to play my age and at the same time I have to look fit. So I am very aware of what I am eating. Also do my yoga and practice on time.
Any memorable moments during Mosagallu recordings?
Wonderfully worked with the team. The beauty of the South industry is that everything happens on time. Eat on time, pack in time and exercise. The moment I land in Hyderabad, I feel good about it. I never worked with Vishnu, Kajal and director Jeffrey. They look at a movie differently and this movie was shot differently. They thrive on our experience, we thrive on their creativity. We jump corners, but we do not. They go according to the scene.
Did you share any fitness secrets with Vishnu?
They are the new generation. They know better. I’m from old school. We had a lot of action together. Every action has a reaction. Timing is necessary when you do the action, or else you could injure yourself. But it did not happen and it is brilliant.
Tell us about Ghani.
Ghani is exciting and Varun Tej is brilliant. Another new director. I have to look skinny in the movie and I’m very excited.
