Rajkot: At least four men were arrested for rash driving after their videos performing dangerous stunts on their motorcycles and scooters went viral on social media in Morbi town on Thursday.
The Morbi A Division police also seized 15 two-wheelers including motorcycles and scooters on which the alleged stunts were performed by the accused. Those arrested include Dhanraj Makwana (26), Bhavesh Kanjariya (24), Imtiyaz Katara (24) and Avesh Samtani (24). They were identified based on the vehicle registration numbers visible in the videos.
Police said that the accused were performing the stunts on congested road and highway that too when traffic was at its peak. Some of the accused had broadcast the stunts live on their Facebook accounts, they added.
According to police, the stunts were performed mainly on Shanala road that witnesses heavy traffic throughout the day and on the Morbi-Kandla highway that connects the Saurashtra region to the Kandla port. The highway witnesses movement of heavy vehicles to and from Kandla port. Police said that in the videos the men are seen performing stunts not only risking their own life but also of other commuters on the road. These videos were uploaded on various social media and messaging apps to generate hits. According to police, these videos were recorded in the last two days. The video footage has been sent for forensic investigation.
