AHMEDABAD: A major fire broke out at a plastic packaging manufacturing firm in the phase-4 of Vatva GIDC area on Friday night after which Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) officials gave a brigade call and rushed their 38 fire tenders and nearly 100 fire brigade personnel to douse the fire.
No casualty or injuries have been reported in the incident till late on Friday evening, said an AFES officer, adding that things will be clear after the fire is doused off.
According to a fire brigade official, the fire broke out at Marudhar industries private limited in Vatva GIDC phase-4 at around 8pm on Friday.
The company manufactures aluminum foil food containers, plastic pouches for food packaging and zipper plastic pouches, said a fire brigade officer, adding that the materials are inflammable due to which it was very hard to control the fire.
The officer said that earlier four fire tenders were sent to the spot of fire as they got a call that flames erupted after a blast in a boiler at the company. Later, the fire brigade sent 12 more vehicles and as it was impossible to douse the foul, the AFES had to give a brigade call and rushed their all the 38 vehicles to the spot of fire.
Locals said that they constantly heard sounds of blast after the fire and flames and smoke could be seen from a periphery of around 1km. Fear and panic gripped the area after the incident and police personnel were also rushed to control the situation.
Two ambulances were also called at the spot to tackle any emergency like situation. The fire fighting was on.
