Mansukh Hiran’s diatom test report is positive, confirms ATS

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 18 (ANI): Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad, which is probing the mysterious death of Mansukh Hiran, has confirmed that the diatom test report of the deceased businessman has returned positive.
“Diatom test done at GMC is positive. However, ATS is sending the report to the forensic science lab (FSL) Madhuban, Haryana for confirmation. Meanwhile, the ATS is investigating the case as murder only,” said ATS officials on Wednesday.
Diatom test is an important tool in the diagnosis of death in drowning cases.
Maharashtra ATS on Wednesday summoned doctors of Kalwa Government Hospital for questioning, who performed the post-mortem of Hiran and recorded their statements.
Shivdeep Lande, DIG of ATS conducted Shivdeep Lande, DIG of ATS, conducted an investigation along with Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajkumar Shinde at the Thane ATS office.
Hiran, the owner of the vehicle that was found containing explosives outside the house of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, was found dead in a creek on March 5 in Thane. (ANI)

North-East Delhi violence: Delhi HC reserves order on bail plea of Jamia student Asif Iqbal Tanha

New Delhi [India], March 18 (ANI): The Delhi High Court on Thursday reserved its order on bail plea of Jamia student Asif Iqbal Tanha in connection with north-east Delhi violence case.
A Division Bench of Justices Siddharth Mridul and Anup Jairam Bhambhani reserved the order after the counsel appearing for the Delhi Police and Tanha concluded their arguments.
The Court was hearing Tanha’s plea, challenging a trial court order, and then dismissed his bail plea.
Delhi Police had opposed the bail plea.
A Delhi court, while dismissing Tanha’s bail plea, earlier had observed that the accused Asif Iqbal Tanha was closely connected with other co-accused and played a very active role in the entire conspiracy of organizing the protest at the protest sites which resulted in riots, killing numerous people besides injuring many people and causing destruction of property. Rail Land Development Authority invites e-bids for leasing 2 land parcels in Rajasthan

New Delhi [India], March 18 (ANI): Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) on Thursday floated a Request for Proposal (RFP) for leasing two vacant land parcels in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer and Ajmer.
“The land parcel at Jaisalmer spans a little over 3 hectares and is located along Jodhpur Road, near Jaisalmer Railway Station,” read an official statement.
The land parcel in Ajmer spans around 9,000 square metres and is situated on Beawar Road.
“Both of these land parcels will be leased for commercial use for a period of 45 years. The reserve price of Jaisalmer and Ajmer land parcels are Rs 20.5 crores and Rs 40.0 crores respectively,” added the statement.
The last date of e-bid submission is April 27 for Jaisalmer and May 10 for Ajmer land parcels.
Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) is a statutory body under Railways Ministry for the development of Railway land. It has four key mandates as a part of its development plan, namely leasing of commercial sites, colony redevelopment, station redevelopment and multi-functional complexes. (ANI)

Tamil Nadu Assembly Polls: Khushbu Sundar files nomination from Thousand Lights constituency

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], March 18 (ANI): Actor-turned-politician Khushbu Sundar on Thursday filed her nomination as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Thousand Lights assembly constituency for upcoming Tamil Nadu polls.
Ahead of her nomination filing, she conducted a roadshow with BJP workers into which alliance party cadres joined at Valluvar Kottam .
She told ANI, “I am extremely thankful to Kuka Selvam Sir who resigned from the post and said he will not be in the fray giving me the space to contest.”
“I am confident of my victory, as you all can see the support given by NDA and the solidarity shown by alliance partners. I am in safe hands of NDA dependent on my cadre,” she added.
When asked if she has the support of film-actor Rajnikanth, Khushbu said, “Not necessary. He does not have to support me openly and I do not have to ask for his support. He is a good friend of mine. I know Rajni Sir with all his heart will be blessing me”.
The Tamil Nadu assembly elections will be held in a single phase on April 6 and the counting of votes will be done on May 2.
The term of the fifteenth legislative assembly in Tamil Nadu is ending on May 2, 2021. As many as 6,28,23,749 electors will choose candidates for the sixteenth legislative assembly in Tamil Nadu.
There are 234 seats in the Tamil Nadu assembly. Ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) is in a pre-poll alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Palaniswami will be contesting the seat in Edappadi. (ANI)

Thinking of imposing night curfew: Mumbai Mayor on rising COVID-19 cases

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 18 (ANI): Amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar on Thursday said she is thinking of imposing a night curfew in the city and considering shifting the crowded markets to new sites.
“I think imposing a night curfew is necessary right now. We are also considering shifting the crowded markets to new sites,” said Pednekar told ANI on rising COVID-19 cases.
Mumbai Mayor also said that all Mumbaikars need to work together to prevent the imposition of a lockdown.
“Maharashtra chief minister has already given an ultimatum to the people of the state whether they want a lockdown to be imposed or not. The onus is on public now,” she added.
The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai till Wednesday had reported 3,49,958 COVID-19 cases and 11,547 deaths. Meanwhile, there are 1,52,760 active cases in the state.
A total of 36,39,989 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the state till March 17, the Maharashtra government said in a statement on Thursday. (ANI)

Opening car door out of courtesy is not part of mandate: CRPF DG on CRPF jawan opening Ranaut’s door

New Delhi [India], March 18 (ANI): Reacting to an incident in which a CRPF commando opened Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut’s car door, newly appointed Director-General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Kuldiep Singh said that opening the doors of the car out of courtesy by a CRPF commando is not in the mandate but if it is done as part of security, it should be done.
But the DG said he is not aware of the incident has he took charge only yesterday.
“It depends whether one opens door or not. The motive behind the opening door is to see when it is right for the VIP to move out (of the vehicle), It’s part of VIP security,” the DG said when asked about the incident.
The DG said he is not aware of the facts of this matter but in general, “Opening doors of the car out of courtesy isn’t in the mandate but if being done as part of security it’s important and should be done.”
CRPF provides security to 69 VVIPs who include Home Minister Amit Shah, Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Gandhi. Also, CRPF is giving security to 13 people in view of the West Bengal Elections.
The force last year created a separate wing for VVIP security.
It happened months after taking over the security of VVIPs like Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Rahul Gandhi and others.
The wing functions from Delhi and an Inspector General Officer handles it.
The CRPF had asked for a separate VIP sector headquarter and a range along with a training centre in its proposal. (ANI)

Fake GST invoices racket busted in Pune by CGST Commissionerate

Pune (Maharashtra) [India], March 18 (ANI): The Commissionerate of Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST), Pune II, has arrested a managing director (MD) of a private company in connection with an alleged racket of issuing fake GST invoices without receipt or supply of services.
The accused has been identified as Sanjay Sheshrao Gaikwad, who was arrested on March 16 by a team of Headquarter Preventive Unit under sections of 132 (1) (b) and (c) of the CGST Act, 2017. He was later remanded in judicial custody for 14 days by a court in Pune.
“Gaikwad is MD of ‘M/s Sigma Techinfra Solutions Private Limited’, which is registered in GST for supplying of services of Manpower. The CGST commissionerate officials have busted the company’s modus operandi of issuing fake GST invoices without receipt or supplying any services,” CGST said in a press statement.
“Investigation was initiated against the said company for issuance of fake GST invoices of approximately Rs 66 crores including GST of Rs 12 Crores to facilitate bogus Input Tax Credit (ITC) claims and dupe the Government Exchequer,” it said.
CGST further said that the accused was a part of a racket involving issue of fake GST invoices to claim fraudulent input tax credit (ITC) from the government without any receipt or supply of services.
“As per GST laws, ITC can be availed only against taxes paid to the government on receipt of goods or services. However, M/s Sigma Techinfra Solutions (I) Private Limited took work orders from various prominent companies and sub contracted the same work to non-existent companies who exist only on paper and thus availed ITC on bogus invoices and passed on the same to prominent companies without actual receipt/supply of services,” it added.
CGST said that the search was conducted at different premises of the company in Pune and Mumbai. The statement of the accused was also recorded who has admitted to this modus operandi.
Further investigation in the matter regarding the involvement of other firms and financial transactions between these firms are in progress. (ANI)
