Model Emily Ratajkowskican’t get enough of her newborn son – and now she’s sharing a glimpse of him with the world. Emily and her actor husband, Sebastian Bear-McClard, welcomed little Sylvester Apollo Bear on 3 March.
The 29-year-old described the birth of her first child as a “surreal, beautiful and a love-filled” experience – and she has the pictures to prove it.
She’s never been shy to share, has Emily.
The model recently took to Instagram to share her labour experience. In one image, she’s seen holding an oxygen mask to her nose and mouth, which helped regulate the baby’s heart rate during labour.
In another, the brunette beauty beams while cradling her son, also known as Sly, for the first time. “In between pushes/first moments with Sly,” she captioned her post.
Emily, who wed Sebastian in 2018 after a few weeks of dating, shocked fans when she broke the news of her pregnancy in October last year. The model and actress was pictured cradling her baby bump on the digital cover of Vogue. In an interview with the fashion magazine, she revealed why she and her husband didn’t want to reveal their baby’s gender.
“Everyone has opinions on what to expect from a boy or a girl,” she said. “I don’t necessarily fault anyone for these generalisations, but I don’t like that we force gender-based preconceptions onto people, let alone babies. I want to be a parent who allows my child to show themself to me.”
Before welcoming baby Sly, she bared all in a pregnancy shoot at her New York apartment. One of the revealing images show her lying in bed while with just a sweatpants on to cover her bottom. “Just me and @renellaice at home in NYC,” she captioned her post, referring to her photographer friend Renell Medrano.
Now she plans to take a break from her “chaotic” career to take care of Sly. “Fashion is so demanding,” she says. “It has to be your first priority and you have to be available for that big-money job, which makes it difficult to plan your life.”
