Orlando Pirates head coach Josef Zinnbauer on Thursday sent a stern warning to his side that there is a thin line between confidence and complacency following their excellent recent form.

Zinnbauer's flying Buccaneers side face their cross-town rivals in a Premiership clash at the FNB Stadium on Sunday in two very different situations.

Gavin Hunt has come under increasing pressure with Chiefs in 11th position in the league standings, having failed to secure a win in their last five matches.

Pirates meanwhile, sit joint second in the standings having emerged as the closest rival to defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

Despite their varying fortunes so far this season, Zinnbauer insisted that they were in for a fight against a very good side to secure a win.

"It's not always so easy when you go on a good run," Zinnbauer told the media ahead of this weekend's clash. "I think we have a run now of 11 games with nine wins and two draws.

"Yesterday it was also very important to see the team come back [in a 2-1 win over Enyimba] after a difficult situation during the game.

"When you're flying and going on a run of good results then it's important that the players understand that you still need to work to win the next game.

"All games are different and this is not a typical league game this is a special game because it's a derby and it's perhaps the biggest game in the whole of Africa.

"Both clubs will be 100% motivated that they need to win this game and want the points and not lose this game. The players have to understand that we have to recover quickly after the CAF Confederation Cup.

"As quick as possible we need to now turn our focus completely to this game on Sunday.

"You need to win with self-confidence yes, but there's always a small line for a player that once you have too much self-confidence you may become too casual.

"So you need the right balance where my players are not too confident but also not nervous for the occasion.

"If we maintain the attitude that we had yesterday when coming from behind to grab a dramatic win over Enyimba and then we'll have a big chance on Sunday," conclude Zinnbauer.

Kick-off is at 15:00.
