CERT-In issues security advisory for Google Chrome browser
The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued a high severity rating security advisory after multiple vulnerabilities were reported in Google Chrome browser. CERT-In is advising users to upgrade to the latest Google Chrome browser release version 89.0.4389.90.

“Multiple vulnerabilities exist in Google Chrome due to Use after free in WebRTC, Blink and Heap buffer overflow in tab groups. An attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by persuading a victim to visit a specially crafted website.Successful exploitation of these vulnerabilities could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the targeted system,” said CERT-In in its advisory.

Last month, CERT-In issued a similar advisory after Chrome 88.0.4324.146 release. Google Chrome being one of the most popular internet browsers attracts undivided attention from hackers and scammers eagerly waiting to exploit a known vulnerability soon after a new version gets released.

Google Chrome rolls out Live Caption feature for easy transcription

Internet search giant Google has added a very useful feature to its Chrome browser that will transcribe audio playing in real-time. The feature — called Live Captions — has been available on Pixel and Galaxy smartphones since some time now. However, now its reach has been expanded to the Chrome browser on the desktop.

The new Chrome 89 version will have a new feature called Privacy Sandbox, which Google suggests is "a secure environment for personalisation that also protects user privacy." Also, the Chrome 89 version is said to come with changes to the Discover feed on the New Tab Page but mostly in design elements. Google is also working on bringing Web Sharing on desktop. This feature allows web apps to send and receive data with Android's native share menu.

Another feature that is claimed to be spotted in the upcoming Chrome 89 version is called site info popup. As per the report, this feature allows users to see full address, information about page security, and a list of granted permissions when they press the 'I' or lock icon in the address bar.
