UP OKs nearly Rs 3,000cr for Noida airport’s 2nd phase

Greater Noida: The UP cabinet has approved over Rs 2,890 crore for land acquisition for the second phase of Noida International Airport.
The funds will be used for acquisition of 1,186 hectares of private land where the airport is to expand. Government departments such as education, irrigation, public works and urban development, however, have been asked to part with their land in the area for the airport free of cost.
A total of 1363.45 hectares are to be handed over to the Zurich AG subsidiary, which will develop the airport and is expected to build the third runway over the land. Out of that, about 1186 hectares are privately owned. Officials said that as per the sanctioned estimates, the district administration will offer Rs 2,300 for a sqm to the farmers of six villages under the Jewar tehsil who will give up their land for the second phase.
During the acquisition of 1,334 hectares of land for the first phase, the government had paid compensation at the rate of Rs 2,300 per sqm. The first phase too was planned over six villages — Rohi, Parohi, Banwaribas, Kishorpur, Dayanatpur and Ranhera.
The six villages where chunks have to be acquired are Ranhera, Kureb, Karauli Bangar, Dayanatpur, Berampur and Mundhera. “During the physical survey, some portions of Nangla Shahpur seemed to be part of the second phase. But when the superimposition of the revenue records was done to demarcate the land under the second phase, it was found that land from Nangla Shahpur was not needed at this stage,” said additional DM (land acquisition) Balram Singh. The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority has been given the go-ahead to buy the land at the rate of Rs 2,300 sqm directly from farmers who have land parcels in the notified villages.
“We will transfer the land to the civil aviation department of the state for the second phase,” said CEO Arun Vir Singh. Member of the airport monitoring committee and resident of Tirthali in Jewar, Mozzam Khan said, “The government should at least include the annual rate of inflation while offering compensation for the next phase.”
Singh, however, said the final compensation will be decided after the social impact assessment study.
