Khurai protests RIMS student's death

Local people of Khurai Thangjam Leikai today staged a sit-in-protest demanding justice in the mysterious death of RIMS student Sanaton Athokpam.
The protest demonstration staged under the Justice for Sanaton Athokpam also demanded establishment of the facts and circumstances leading to the death of the medical student.
The protesters shouted slogans demanding justice.
Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the protest demonstration, Sanaton's elder sister Sanathoi who is currently pursuing M Phil at RIMS said that post mortem examination of her brother's body was done at JNIMS yesterday.
She then urged the authorities concerned to provide the post mortem report at the earliest and investigate the case thoroughly so as to deliver justice without undue delay.
Sanaton's elder brother Arnold said that his brother was always respectful to all the people and did no harm to any one.
"He used to tell our parents to wait for just two years and a half until he becomes a doctor", Arnold recalled.
Expressing strong suspicion on how his brother was found dead, he appealed to the public to help ascertain the facts behind the mysterious death.
Notably, 22 year old Sanaton who was studying in MBBS 5th semester at RIMS was found dead under suspicious circumstances inside his hostel on Monday.
Earlier, the Justice for Sanaton Athokpam set a deadline of 48 hours for the Government to establish the facts and circumstances leading to the death of Sanaton.
Many have demanded that the truth behind the mysterious death of the young student be established as soon as possible.
