Four men are expected to appear in court this week for allegedly robbing and attacking a couple at a house in the Crags near Plettenberg Bay in the Western Cape.
Their arrests on Wednesday morning followed an investigation by Plettenberg Bay police and security officers, police spokesperson Sergeant Christopher Spies said.
Spies said five men armed with knives and pangas entered the couple's residence at around 21:00 on Tuesday and demanded money. The couple, aged 71 and 63, were allegedly tied up. The attackers assaulted the husband and ransacked the home.
He said:
Spies said investigations led
the team to a filling station where the couple's bank cards were used to buy
items at around 06:00 on Wednesday.
"Whilst searching for the suspects, security on patrols in the vicinity arrested a man who fitted the description of one of the perpetrators.
"Further investigation took members to two different houses in Qolweni, where three more suspects were arrested and some stolen items recovered," the police spokesperson added.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Plettenberg Bay Magistrate's Court on Friday, on charges of house robbery and the possession of stolen property.
