Chennai, Mar 18 (UNI) The ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu
on Thursday filed a complaint with the Election Commission
seeking to register a criminal case against former Minister
and Opposition DMK Karur candidate V Senthil Balaji for
threatening the government officers, using unparliamentary
words and violating the election rules.
In a letter to Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo, AIADMK
Advocate's Wing Joint Secretary R M Babu Murugavel said
Mr Senthil Balaji, in his address after filing his nomination from
Karur, said after the elections his leader and DMK President
M K Stalin will become Chief Minister of the State.
''After taking oath as the Chief Minister of the State by
1100 hrs, the people belonging to his constituency by
1105 hrs, without any hesitation can take your bullock
cart into the river and load the river sand in their vehicle'',
he said, quoting Balaji.
Balaji had also addressed the government officials in singular
and said none of the government officials will stop them. ''If
they stop you, call me over phone and that official will not be
there'', he had said.
Stating that Balaji's speech was telecasted in all media
channels, Babu Murugavel saod it was a clear violation of
election rules as well as degrading the government officials
and inducing the general public in to unlawful way, taking
the law on their own hand.
This amounts to clear case of contempt of court as the Madras
High Court had ordered that no one have the right to transport
and sale the river sand without the permission from the
concerned authorities.
Mr Babu also urged Mr Sahoo to register a criminal case against
Mr Senthil Balaji for clear violation of election rules, misleading the
general public, contempt of court, disobeying the government order
as well as disrespecting the government servants and threatening
the government officials, according to the provisions of the IPC.
