Theuns Jordaan has labelled reports circulating on social media that he has been admitted to the intensive care unit as false.
In December 2020, the South African singer-songwriter announced that he had been diagnosed with leukaemia in September that year, saying the prognosis was "very good."
Blood tests confirmed that he had acute myeloid leukaemia - a type of cancer that starts in the blood-forming cells of the bone marrow.
Theuns started chemotherapy shortly after receiving the diagnosis, and in December, he was already in remission. According to Netwerk24, he underwent a bone marrow transplant on 5 March.
According to the publication, although Theuns is currently in hospital, as scheduled by his medical team, he has not been admitted to the ICU.
The singer further dismissed reports that his health was in critical condition. "My doctor says that everything is normal and as expected to be," he said.
Musician Jacques Du Plessis also addressed swirling rumours on Facebook on Wednesday, saying: "Theuns is and never was in ICU. Just so everyone knows."
Singer and actress Elizma Theron too rubbished reports of Theuns' ailing health on social media saying: "I also heard like many that he is in ICU, but that is not the case. He is however in the hospital and going strong."
