Emraan Hashmi: Man of the moment

It's been a few years since Emraan Hashmi delivered a stellar hit. Though his last digital release, The Body, which also featured late veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, earned appreciation, he is yet to make an impact on the big screen. His last solo release was Why Cheat India, a film that grossly underperformed at the box office upon release in 2019. But it seems like, his wait will finally come to an end as Emraan is all set to shine with two major projects, Mumbai Saga and Chehre, which are ready for release in theatres. While there's no doubt that Emraan is currently the man of the moment, let's take a look at if he would be able to make an impact with his upcoming line-ups.

Apart from Mumbai Saga and Chehre, reports have suggested that Emraan will play the role of a villain in Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif's upcoming actioner, Tiger 3. He also has a supernatural thriller, Ezra coming up. As per modest trade estimates, the actor has Rs 200-250 crore riding on him. Emraan is more interested in the audience reaction to his upcoming mix of films.

Upcoming roster

Emraan's upcoming roster is spread over the next several months and could define the shape of things to come. He also has Shyam Madiraju's offbeat crime drama, Harami. Among his commercial line-up only Ezra is a solo starrer. All other upcoming films are multi-hero projects.

Chehre sees Emraan team up with Amitabh Bachchan. The presence of Rhea Chakraborty in the cast has added curiosity to the film, which is slated for an April 9 release. Mumbai Saga is Sanjay Gupta's new gangster drama that primarily pits Emraan's obsessed cop against John Abraham's don Amartya Rao. The film is slated to release on March 19. Tiger 3 is very much a Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif vehicle, but reports have suggested that Emraan could be essaying a very distinct villain in the film.
