
2021 Skoda Kushaq Compact SUV Interior, Images Unveil Highlights: The Skoda Kushaq SUV has finally made its global debut today. The said model is a very important product for the company in India for reasons more than one. First, the Kushaq will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta that is currently the best-selling SUV in India. In addition, the competition will come from SUVs like Kia Seltos that are seen as great value for money prepositions and the said segment in itself is a highly competitive one. The Kushaq is based on the Vision IN concept that was displayed at the 2020 Auto Expo and is also Skoda’s first ‘Made-in-India for India’ SUV with upto 95 percent localisation. Furthermore, the Skoda Kushaq is the company’s first SUV to be based on the MQB-A0-IN platform that happens to be the localised version of the Volkswagen Group’s smallest modular smallest modular MQB-A0 platform.

Skoda Kushaq will be launched in a total of three variants namely Active, Ambition and the range-topping Style. Out of these, while the entry-level Active variant will get 16-inch steel wheels, the mid-spec Ambition trim will come with 16-inch alloy wheels. On the other end, the top-of-the-line Style variant will offer bigger 17-inch alloy wheels.
Skoda Kushaq measures 4,225mm in length, 1,760mm in width, and 1,612mm in height. Moreover, the SUV has a ground clearance of 188mm, along with 2,651mm wheelbase. The Kushaq has a 385-litre bootspace that can be increased to 1,405 litres by folding the seats. There will be five colour options on offer namely Candy White, Honey Orange, Brilliant Silver, Carbon Steel, Tornedo Red.

The Kushaq will get a 25.4 cm infotainment touchscreen, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, smartphone pocket, tweeters and subwoofer, USB connectivity, MySKODA Connect connected features.
India 2.0 project has been a result of a Rs 7,900 crore investment. India has emerged as a global R&D hub and will be Skoda Auto's manufacturing hub. The MQB A0 IN platform will underpin a wide range of segment vehicles, first of which will be the Kushaq, says Gurpratap Boparai, MD, Skoda Auto.
Skoda Auto has not revealed the launch timeline for the Kushaq yet, however, considering the production version is braking cover today, it won't be long before it is launched here. Expect the Skoda Kushaq to be priced in the range of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom).
Skoda Kushaq will come with a wide array of features like LED lighting, roof rails, 17-inch alloy wheels, free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, all-digital instrument panel, two-spoke multi-function steering wheel and a panoramic sunroof. It is expected to get MySKODA Connect for internet-connected features like its rivals.
The Kushaq will be up to 95 percent localised: Skoda Kushaq will be the company's first made-in-India SUV. The Kushaq will also mark the debut of Volkswagen Group’s highly-localised MQB AO IN platform developed specifically for the India market. And with this, the Kushaq will likely carry an aggressive price tag.
The upcoming Skoda Kushaq will have a 2,671mm wheelbase and hence, one can expect it to come with a generous interior space. In terms of size, the Kushaq will be more or less similar compared to its mid-size SUV rivals. More details to be revealed soon, so stick around for all the updates!
Apart from the Creta, Seltos and the Kicks, the upcoming Skoda Kushaq will also take on the updated MG Hector and also, the Tata Harrier in the segment. The competition will also come from the Volkswagen Taigun that will be launched in India towards the end of this year.
As per Skoda, the Kushaq's name has been derived from Sanskrit word ‘Kushak’, which in English means a ‘King’ or an “Emperor’. Also, as you can clearly notice, the KUSHAQ name also starts with 'K' and ends with 'Q' just like some of Skoda's other vehicles like Kodiaq, Karoq and Kamiq. Pretty interesting, isn't it?
Based on the India-specific MQB-A0-IN platform, the Skoda Kushaq will get two engine options - a 1.0-litre and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol. While the 110hp, 1.0-litre TSI engine will come with a 6-speed manual and torque convertor auto gearbox options, the 150hp, 1.5-litre TSI motor will get manual and dual-clutch automatic options.
The cabin of the Skoda Kushaq will pack in some interesting features.. Apart from that, the steering wheel will likely be a two-spoke unit like the one on the new Superb and also, the upcoming Octavia. In order to up the practicality quotient, the Kushaq is also expected to get many storage spaces and bits like wireless charging will also be on offer for better convenience of the occupants.
A few days back, we managed to get one footage of the Skoda Kushaq doing final test runs in the hills. So while the Skoda Kushaq is expected to get a premium and well-specced interior, the exteriors too will likely have a lot of appeal. Skoda had revealed the images of the prototype of the final production model a few days back. While these are wrapped in some heavy camouflage, you will get some good hints if you are sharp-eyed!
A couple of weeks back, the interior sketches of the Skoda Kushaq were revealed and these have a fair idea of how the cabin of the Creta/Seltos rival will look like. As per the pictures, the Skoda Kushaq will get a free-standing touchscreen along with Skoda's Virtual cockpit that comprises digital dials while a lot of information will be displayed digitally.
As already mentioned, the Skoda Kushaq will go up against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and also, the Nissan Kicks in the segment.
