The Magistrate's Court in Gqeberha has sentenced a 17-year-old boy to 20 years imprisonment for two counts of rape.
According to National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson in the Eastern Cape, Anelisa Ngcakani, the teenager faced charges of rape, which were committed in September 2019 and June 2020.
In September 2019, he raped a nine-year old boy and was released on parental custody, Ngcakani said.

She said the teenager subsequently raped a nine-year old girl in June 2020. He was arrested and has remained in custody since then.
The court sentenced him to 10 years for each charge.
Ngcakani said both rapes took place in Booysen Park. The victims knew the teenager because they stayed in the same area.
The teen pleaded not guilty to the rape of the boy, but guilty to that of the girl.
"He was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, with five years suspended, for the rape of the boy. He was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, with two years suspended, for the rape of the girl. As a result, he will serve 13 years direct imprisonment," Ngcakani said.
