In a tragic incident, a woman who was pregnant with twins had to deliver her babies in a public toilet after she went into premature labour in Delhi. One of the two babies did not survive while the other is still in a critical situation under medical care. The incident occurred in Vijay Nagar on Tuesday night. The 32-year-old woman, Parvati, and her husband, residents of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh, had traveled to Delhi for some urgent work when the woman unexpectedly went into labour in the bus.
The couple disembarked and approached the nearest public toilet beside a police station, the Times of India reported. Writhing in pain, the woman was spotted by a local SHO Mahaveer Singh Chauhan who called up a woman constable as well an ambulance. The woman gave birth to her first daughter in the toilet and the second while she was on her way to the ambulance. Both babies were born prematurely.
The babies and the mother were taken to Flores Hospital with the umbilical cords still attached. One of the girls died during treatment, while the other is currently being treated. The baby is reportedly in critical condition.
In a similar incident, a woman recently gave birth inside an airplane. The incident occurred aboard the IndiGo’s Delhi-Bengaluru flight in October last year according to an official statement. In response to a query from PTI, IndiGo said: “We confirm that a baby boy was delivered prematurely on flight 6E 122 from Delhi to Bengaluru. There are no further details available.” “A baby boy was born enroute on the Delhi-Bengaluru 6E 122 flight that landed at the Bengaluru airport around 7.30 PM today,” an aviation industry source told PTI.
