Digital Detox Challenge: Can you survive 24 hours without tech? AUD/USD $2400 is up for grabs!

In what is also an obvious promotion for reviews site Reviews.org, the company has cleverly come up with a digital detox challenge for one person in the US, and another in Australia, offering USD or AUD $2400 to each successful applicant to do just that.

Reviews.org's Trevor Wheelwright has posted a digital detox challenge for one person in the US and another person in Australia.

Wheelwright asks "Do you need to escape your daily routine with a digital detox? We know it’s hard to take even a day away from work, school, socialising, games, and the endless scrolling and streaming online, but what if we could make it worth your while?

"Reviews.org wants to give someone $2,400 to go 24 hours without technology—we have a feeling someone out there needs a break."

Wheelwrite reminds us that "a digital detox might not be as easy as you think." The company's recent survey unveiled that "a lot of people are stuck on their screens:"

So, if you’d like to be paid to unplug from all your screens and smart tech for 24 hours, the application is at this page for Australians, and here for those in the US.

If you’re selected and complete the challenge, Reviews.org says it will "reward you with $2,400 and a gift card for surviving the day. Plus, you’ll help curb your smartphone cravings."

Here's the video from Reviews.org, after which are details including "who should apply" and more, so please read on!

So, who should apply?

Wheelwright adds: "If you’ve got the desire to ditch your devices for a day but still need to get paid, this is the perfect opportunity for you. If that seems too easy, you’re probably not the one who needs the detox, so you should refer your phone-addicted friends and family instead."

What do you get?

What’s the challenge?

Wheelwright advises: "Doing the challenge entails a little more than unplugging for a day and getting the money. We want you to be accountable with screentime reports, give us some feedback on your experience, and review your techless 24-hour survival kit."

Responsibilities and requirements

What will you do?

As the digital detox contender, you’ll have to go a full 24 hours without any technology. You’ll have 14 days from accepting the challenge to pick a day that works for you, so you don’t have to skip uni or work (unless you want to).

What you do in the meantime (without your tech to save you) is up to you. Luckily, you’ll have your techless survival kit.

After the challenge, you’ll submit screen time reports to prove that you truly went a full 24 hours without your tech.

What’s in the techless survival kit?

If you’re chosen as Review.org's 2021 Digital Detox Challenger, they’ll send you a tech-less care package worth about $100 to help pass the time. Here are a few items they suggest you might want in your challenge kit:

Applications are open now until 9:00 am AEDT on March 27, 2021 in Australia and 5:00 pm MST on March 26, 2021 in the US.
