West Bengal Election 2021 News Live Updates: The BJP released a list of 148 candidates for West Bengal Assembly Election in Delhi today.

West Bengal Election 2021 Live Updates: Hours after the BJP asked the Election Commission to increase security in Nandigram alleging an attack on its start candidate Suvendu Adhikari during a poll rally by TMC workers, the Mamata Banerjee-led party also filed a counter-complaint.

“In the last 24 hours, Nandigram, from where Mamata Banerjee is a candidate, saw two premeditated and mandated by BJP on instruction or in presence of Suvendu Adhikari,” stated the party’s letter to EC.

The BJP released a list of 148 candidates for West Bengal Assembly Election in Delhi today. It has fielded Asim Sarkar, Mukul Roy and Rahul Sinha among some prominent leaders to take on Mamata Banerjee’s TMC in a bid to wrest power.

“They (BJP) may create snag in the EVM machine. I would like to request my voters not to leave the place. Wait at the polling booth and when the new machine will come ask the officials to switch on and off the EVM twice,” said Banerjee while addressing a public meeting at Kharagpur.

The party has been facing heavy backlash from its workers over its choice of candidates. Many party activists have staged demonstrations outside the saffron camp’s election office in Bengal, and clashed with the police often disrupting law and order.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tore into West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her party TMC as he played on the “Khela Hobe” slogan to say: “Didi, O Didi – you played for 10 years. Now the game will end and development will begin”.

“Poribortan'(development) is Mamata Banerjee’s slogan; why are you copying Mamata Banerjee?… After winning Bengal, we will jump to Delhi & shake BJP,” Banerjee said at a rally in Kharagpur.

Speaking in Purulia ahead of the eight-phase Bengal election starting March 27, the prime minister targeted Banerjee over “corruption and lack of development”.
