Hyderabad: Surgeons at continental hospitals have successfully performed a procedure to correct a congenital heart disease (CHD) in a five-year-old boy from South Sudan.
Victor Bior, the toddler, was admitted to the hospital with multiple ailments, including CHD or a hole in the heart, and pulmonary arterial narrowing, which reduced the blood supply to the lungs. Due to the twins’ medical conditions, the boy needed corrective surgery at the earliest time.
‘Victor was first diagnosed with CHD when he was just three months old and the severity worsened with age. Narrowing of pulmonary arteries has increased the complexity, forcing us to perform open-heart surgery, which was performed three weeks ago, ‘said Dr Pradeep Rachakonda, senior cardiothoracic surgeon at Continental Hospitals.
The boy has been under constant observation since the operation and has recovered well to return to his homeland with his mother Magdalene Ayen Deng Panyang, who is a single parent.
“We are very happy, Victor Bior is returning to his birthplace and will be able to lead a healthy life after this,” says Dr. Riyaz Khan, CEO of Continental Hospitals.
