Running a business isn’t easy as one has to be polite even when it’s the customer’s fault. Some customers make it difficult to follow the phrase ‘customer is always right’ when clearly, they have misunderstood a situation.
One such incident is leaving netizens and a small business owner in splits after a customer got their basic maths wrong but put blame on the business.
The dissatisfied customer who had ordered a dozen masks was asking for a refund after receiving “only 12 masks”.
Yes, this happened in real life to a small business called Zada’s Vault in Minnesota, US when they received an email from a disappointed client demanding a refund after nor receiving the correct number of ordered items. Store owner Zada McCray, recently received an order to make a dozen custom facemasks for a baby shower so she sent 12 masks as instructed to the customer along with a bill of $60 for the total order with each mask priced at $5.
But she was left baffled when she received an email with the subject line- ‘wrong mask order’, but was left amused when she read the content of the mail. The customer complained that she had ordered a dozen custom marks but she only received 12.
“I really needed them all. I would like a refund please and I will no longer support your business. I try to support black-owned businesses but you guys continue to rip people off,” the angry customer wrote.
But Zada had to keep her cool and replied professionally even apologised for what clearly wasn’t her mistake. “I am sorry you were disappointed with your order,” she wrote while correcting the customer’s misunderstanding. She told the customer that a dozen means 12 and if they needed more than a dozen, she would be happy to make more. Zada also offered a $5 coupon but stated not to refund as the quantity was correct.
The customer upon learning their mistake tried to play it off by saying they didn’t know dozen meant 12. “I swear it was pronounced ‘dub-zen’ like a dub (20) whatever tho.”
