Tamil Nadu assembly polls: DMK is only good at brawls, will ruin the state, says Edappadi K Palaniswami

Edappadi K Palaniswami addresses a rally atop his campaign vehicle in Pudukkotai district on Tuesday.
CHENNAI: Accusing DMK of being an unruly party indulging in atrocities and brawls “even when not in power,” chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Tuesday urged the people not to give an opportunity to DMK to “ruin the state.”
Campaigning for AIADMK candidates in Pudukkottai and Thanjavur districts, Palaniswami said the DMK was good at deceiving people and Stalin a master at it as the party won’t return to power.
“As we convened the State assembly to prove our majority in 2017, DMK created a massive ruckus inside the historical place. Even the assembly speaker (P Dhanapal) was manhandled. If such a ruckus and rowdy party forms the government, will our state progress?,” Palaniswami asked the crowd in Pudukottai.
He also recalled the unsavoury incidents involving DMK workers in an eatery in Chennai, beauty parlour in Perambalur and a coconut shop in Thirumayam.
Campaigning for health minister and Viralimalai candidate C Vijayabaskar, the CM said the minister had handled the pandemic situation efficiently setting a model for other states.
Palaniswami made it a point to repeat the freebies promised in the party manifesto all through the campaign — six LPG cylinders, cable TV connection and free washing machines to households.
Identifying himself as a farmer who has cultivated sugarcane and tapioca, he said at Aranthangi, Pattukkottai and Orathanadu that they had waived off farm loan.
He said 7.5% reservation for government school students who cleared NEET has benefited rural students.
