The Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) says the country is poised for new legislation aimed at enhancing data protection and privacy, facilitating electronic transactions and strengthening cyber security. In its latest report, the regulator said the Electronic Transactions Act No 21 of 2009 is the main piece of legislation covering some of these aspects. It said the new laws are anticipated to repeal the existing legislation and will enhance confidence in the use of ICT services in the country as well as facilitate the introduction of new services.
