  • The Talk has been pulled from air as CBS looks into allegations of racism on the US talk show.
  • The decision comes after a recent heated discussion on racism on the show, after the 68-year-old defended Piers Morgan following his remarks on Meghan Markle.
  • "We are committed to a diverse, inclusive and respectful workplace," CBS said, announcing an internal investigation.

The Talk has been pulled from air amid a recent racism row involving Sharon Osbourne.

Following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah, Piers Morgan said he didn't believe claims made by the Duchess of Sussex. Shortly after, he resigned from his post as host of Good Morning Britain.

Sharon Osbourne defended her longtime friend, however, and in an episode of The Talk was asked by co-host Sheryl Underwood: "What would you say to people who may feel that while you're standing by your friend, it appears you gave validation or safe haven to something that he has uttered that is racist, even if you don't agree?"

A teary and angry Sharon demanded Sheryl explain what exactly Piers Morgan said that was racist. The show cut to a commercial break as the 68-year-old used words bleeped out.

Sharon Osbourne herself is now being accused of using offensive language, including racial slurs towards former co-host and executive producer Julie Chen, as well as homophobic slurs when referring to former co-host and executive producer Sara Gilbert. The accusations were supported by former The Talk co-host Leah Remini, reports Deadline. The Talk co-host Holly Robinson Peete also claimed she called her too 'ghetto' for the show - Sharon has denied those accusations.

On Friday, she shared an apology on Twitter to "anyone of colour that I offended and/or to anyone that feels confused, or let down by what I said". She wrote: "I panicked, felt blindsided, got defensive and allowed my fear and horror of being accused of being racist take over."

CBS has since said the show will be back on air next Tuesday, reports AP and released a statement.

"We are committed to a diverse, inclusive and respectful workplace. All matters related to the Wednesday episode of The Talk are currently under internal review," they said.
