NOIDA: Having returned to Noida after his visit to poll-bound West Bengal, BKU-Tikait leader Rakesh Tikait has said that the farmers are planning a one-day chakka jam and the Noida-Delhi border may be shut in the future in case their demands are not met.
“Noida youths do not have employment. Factories have come up here. They have lost their land. Houses and buildings have come up here but where will they go in search of employment? People from outside are coming here for employment. The path of agitation is better. Chilla border has been closed earlier, it can be closed again,” Tikait told media persons on Tuesday.
Asked whether the talks were on about the same, he said, “The committee here will decide. We can sit. They will decide themselves. They have a plan for March 26.”
Asked about the deadlock in the talks between the farmers and the central government on the issue of the three farm acts, he said that it seems the issue will prolong but the government will talk to the farmers in the next winters — before the UP state elections of 2022. “It (deadlock) will prolong. At the moment, the government is absent. The government will watch out for summers, then it will see the monsoon, then winter will come, I think in winters, the government will talk.”
Talking about his visit to West Bengal, he said that he told farmers that they (parties) are asking for rice from them, they should demand MSP from them. “If MSP is formed, the farmers of the country will benefit. We have said that if the BJP is not giving MSP, they should not be voted for. If they agree on MSP and the three bills, BJP can be voted for,” he said.
Talking about the allegations levelled against him that he was doing politics, he said, “I don’t have to fight elections. We have to work for the farmers and employment, against the pension for the MP/MLAs because soldiers, private persons and farmers are not getting it. Mahapanchayats are going to take place in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Odisha, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and the entire country,” he added.
