Odisha urges Centre to include journalists, essential services staff as FLW for covid vaccination

Bhubaneswar, Mar 17 (UNI) Odisha government today requested the central government to include journalists, the staff of essential services as Front Line Workers (FLW) for Covid 19 vaccination.
In a letter to the Union Health and Family Welfare Secretary, Odisha Additional Chief Secretary Health and Family welfare P K Mohapatra suggested to include journalists, staff engaged in maintenance of essential services like Electricity and Water supply, Airports, Railways, seaports and priests of Lord Jagannath Temple Puri and Lingaraj temple Bhubaneswar for the covid vaccination on priority.
Mr Mohapatra said officials from different departments who were engaged for COVID 19 surveillance and containment measures at state and district are being vaccinated as FLW in Odisha since February 2021.
However, many categories of persons who are at risk of exposure to infection due to the nature of their work have not been included as FLWs and suggested to include them and communicate necessary approval at an early date.
