China new energy car output, sales rise in February

China-based makers produced 124,000 new energy vehicles and sold 110,000 units in February 2021, soaring 7.2 times and 5.8 times respectively on year, according to China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).

The output consisted of 107,000 electric vehicles (EVs) and 16,000 PHEVs, growing 7.2 times and 7.4 times respectively on year, CAAM said. The sales consisted of 92,000 EVs and 17,000 PHEVs, respectively rising 5.8 times and 5.9 times on year.

During January-February, 317,000 new energy vehicles were produced and 289,000 units were sold, respectively increasing 3.9 times and 3.2 times on year, CAAM indicated. The former consisted of 273,000 EVs and 44,000 PHEVs, respectively growing 4.6 times and 170% on year, while the latter consisted of 243,000 EVs and 46,000 PHEVs, respectively rising 3.6 times and 180% on year.
