India vs England: Should KL Rahul be Dropped? Aakash Chopra Doesn't Think So
KL Rahul's dip in form and the subsequent questioning of his position in Team India's top order has not gone down well with former India cricketer-turned Pundit Aakash Chopra.
KL Rahul’s dip in form and the subsequent questioning of his position in Team India’s top order has not gone down well with former India cricketer-turned Pundit Aakash Chopra. After a string of poor scores (1 and 0), fans are doubtful that whether Rahul should indeed bat as an opener especially now with Ishan Kishan making an impact on debut. India can field their first-choice opener Rohit Sharma and have him paired with Ishan Kishan for the third T20I.
“If we start asking questions about a runaway match-winner after just two low-scores, we aren’t going to build a team that’ll win the World Cup. If it’s Rahul today, it’ll be Ishan tomorrow…Pant day after. And then…will have a team of insecure players,” Chopra said in a Tweet on Monday.

As the India-England series moves forward, the hosts are likely to announce the team for the ODIs as well. After the culmination of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, there are a few new names that could be included in the 50-overs format for the first time. Karnataka pacer Prasidh Krishna looks like he has impressed the selectors, after his 14-wicket haul in the domestic competition, according to a report in Cricbuzz.
He could pair up with the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shardul Thakur, Navdeep Saini, and T Natarajan. Jasprit Bumrah is likely to be on an extended leave after his marriage with Sanjana Ganesan. On the other hand, after some mind-boggling performances, selectors might give Krunal Pandya a go for the ODIs. He had an exceptional Vijay Hazare, where he scored two tons and two fifties. But the likes of Prithvi Shaw and Devdutt Padikkal could be ignored for now.
