Two killed in road rage, juvenile among two apprehended

Two men, including a civil defence staffer, were stabbed to death, allegedly by a juvenile and his accomplice in an incident of road rage in Outer Delhi’s Paschim Vihar. Initial investigation has revealed that the accused’s motorbike hit the victim’s two-wheeler, and the victim first chased them down. The two sides then had a heated argument which turned violent. The incident was captured in a CCTV camera and the accused have been apprehended based on the footage.

DCP (Outer district) Dr A Koan identified the victims as Rohit Aggarwal (23) and Ghanshyam Kumar (20). “One of the culprits, Pardeep Kohli (19), has been arrested and the juvenile apprehended,” he said.

Aggarwal’s brother-in-law, Anshul Gupta, said, “We received a call around 4 am that he had been admitted to a hospital. He succumbed to his injuries by the time we reached. Rohit and his childhood friend had gone to attend a friend’s marriage and the incident took place when they were returning. We have been informed by the doctors that they had over two dozen stab injuries.”

Police said Aggarwal, a civil defence staffer, was driving the two-wheeler when the motorcycle being driven by Kohli bumped into it. “Kohli drove away but was chased down by the victims for around half a kilometre. CCTV footage shows after parking their vehicles, both sides started arguing near Udyog Vihar metro station. Kohli allegedly took out a knife and started stabbing the victims before escaping. Locals did not intervene,” said a senior police officer.

Koan said: “With the help of technical surveillance, both culprits were apprehended and during questioning, it surfaced that road rage led to the double murder. The knife and motorcycle have been recovered from the accused.”

During investigation, police scanned CCTV footage and found the bike was registered in the name of Kohli’s mother. “A raid was conducted at his home. He was sleeping. His bloodstained clothes were found inside a washing machine while the knife was near a drain. He said he had purchased the knife around 15 days ago after he had a brawl with one of his friends. Based on information from him, the juvenile was also apprehended,” an officer said.

Aggarwal was also working at his father’s utensil shop in Nangloi and Ghanshyam used to work as a labourer at a dairy in the same area. The accused Kohli worked as a labourer at a scrap shop in Bahadurgarh.
