NOIDA: Aged 98, Jai Dev from Stellar Kings Court, Sector 50, was the
second oldest person in the city to get the
vaccine on Monday.
Dev, who will be 99 on March 20, took the shot at a private hospital.
On March 9, 103-year-old Mahabir Prasad Maheshwari had taken the jab in Noida and he is said to be the oldest resident to get the vaccine.
Dev is a retired station master from Saharanpur and on Monday, his son Suresh Kumar (72) and daughter-in-law Neelam (68) also took the shots.
“He does all his work by himself and is not fussy. Earlier, when he was more agile, he used to go for walks and watch the news regularly. These days he mostly naps and remains indoors, more so because of Covid,” said Neelam.
“He has to have something sweet with his dinner. He says a pandit told him that he will live till he is 122,” said Neelam, who prepares sweets for him almost every day.
“Dev is the second oldest person in the district after Mahabir Prasad Maheswari to take the jab. Dev and his family members who took the shots together are doing fine,” said Viswabadhu Joshi from Kailash Hospital, Noida, Sector 27.
While Dev’s grandson is a surgeon in the US, his granddaughter stays in Noida and visits him often.
