NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: As many as 5,597 people were inoculated in Ghaziabad on Monday and Gautam Budh Nagar vaccinated 6,151 people under the third round of the vaccination drive, the highest single-day
turnout since the process started on March 1.
In Ghaziabad, 4,805 people were in the 60 years and above category, 792 were in the 45-59 years with comorbidities. group. Till last week, the drive was being carried out six days of the week only at the District Combined Hospital. From Monday, eight government facilities — four community health centres in Loni, Dasna, Modinagar and Muradnagar, health centre in Bhojpur, ESIC Hospital, District Women’s Hospital and Hindon Airforce Hospital — will also inoculate people from Monday to Saturday. The other 32 government facilities will continue to administer jabs on Mondays, Thursday and Fridays.
State additional chief secretary (health) Amit Mohan Prasad had issued a directive over the weekend asking officials to speed up the process and involve block-level primary health centres and community health centres to inoculate people six days a week, as against Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. Following the directive, Gautam Budh Nagar has also increased
vaccine centres from 42 to 74 (39 government and 35 private facilities). On Monday, the district inoculated 6,151 people, the highest so far. “We vaccinated 7,940 people (4,173 at government and 3,767 at private facilities) on Monday. The target for Monday was 8,000. While 5,097 people took the
shots at government facilities, 1,054 got vaccinated at private hospitals. Remaining 1,789 were healthcare and frontline workers. For the third round, we had a coverage of 77%. This is the highest number immunised in a single day so far,” said Dr Neeraj Tyagi, district immunisation officer in-charge of Covid vaccination, Gautam Budh Nagar. The three branches of Yatharth Hospital inoculated 310 residents on Monday. Among other private facilities, SJM Super Speciality Hospital, Sector 63, vaccinated 224 senior citizens, Metro Hospital vaccinated 170.
In Bisrakh, two new health centres (Chipyana and Sarfabad) will also inoculate people from now.
In Ghaziabad, 3,092 people above 60 years and 513 people between 45 and 59 years were vaccinated at government centres. At private facilities, 1,713 people above 60 years and 279 between 45 years and 59 years were inoculated.
In all, 32 private hospitals have been given the permission to conduct the vaccination drive through the week.
