Police inspector killed in road accident

Nashik, Mar 15 (UNI) Police inspector of Mumbra police station was killed and other four person were injured when a car and truck collided at Wadivarhe on Mumbai-Nashik highway on Sunday night.

According Wadivarhe police, the police inspector was identified as Pandurang Chintaman Khandvi of Mumbai police station. Pandurang Khandvi, a native of Rokadpada in Surgana taluka of Nashik district, was traveling to Mumbra in a private car with his family after attending a family function in Wani in Nashik district.

Meanwhile, on Sunday (Mar 14) at around 8 pm on the Nashik-Mumbai lane of the highway at Raigadnagar near Wadivarhe, the driver of a truck heading towards Mumbai from the highway ignored the road conditions and tried to overtake the truck. Wadiwarhe police said. The car had a total of five passengers, including the driver.

Upon receiving the information, Wadiwarhe police along with Ghoti highway police rushed to the spot. At this time, all the injured were shifted to Nashik District Government Hospital by ambulance of Gondephata of Jagadguru Swami Narendracharya Sansthan. Pandurang Khandvi was critically injured and was pronounced dead by the medical authorities.

The injured have been identified as Mina Pandurang Khadvi (40), Vaishnavi Pandurang Khandvi (15), Jai Pandurang Khandvi (12, all resident of Qadri Mansion, Quarter, Mahim Police Colony, Mumbai) and driver Vinayak Raghunath Sanap (20, Mumbra).

Khandvi has been on duty as a police inspector in the administration department of Mumbra police station for the last four to five years. He is a native of Surgana and has served in various cities in the state.
