Amid rising Covid-19 cases in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has decided to impose night curfew in Bhopal and Indore from tomorrow.

While markets will be shut from 10 pm tomorrow in Jabalpur, Gwalior, Ujjain, Ratlam, Chindwara, Betul, Burhanpur and in Khargone.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Madhya Pradesh government had issued new guidelines directing districts bordering Maharashtra to identify people coming from the neighbouring state and advise them a week-long quarantine.

Maharashtra is currently the worst-affected state by Covid-19 in India. As per the latest Union health ministry data, Maharashtra has 1,27,480 actives cases of coronavirus, while Madhya Pradesh has just 4,740.

Madhya Pradesh’s eight districts - Chhindwara, Balaghat, Betul, Seoni, Khandwa, Barwani, Khargone and Burhanpur - share border with Maharashtra.

The new guidelines also restrict the attendance capacity to 50 per cent in closed halls located in the districts bordering Maharashtra as well as in the state capital Bhopal and industrial hub Indore.

Madhya Pradesh on Sunday reported 743 fresh cases of coronavirus, raising the infection count to 2,68,594. The state has so far reported 3,887 deaths due to Covid-19, as per official figures.
