New Delhi, Mar 16 (UNI) Congress lawmaker Shakti Singh Gohil on Tuesday said that the Government is lagging behind in vaccination drive as it was busy exporting or sending vaccine shots to foreign countries when the COVID-19 cases have been rising at an alarming rate in the country.

Flagging the issue, Mr Singh further said that so far only 0.35 per cent of population has been vaccinated and at this rate, it will take 18 years to vaccinate the entire population.



Demanding that the vaccination rate be increased in the country, the Congress Member further said that even the High Court has opined that the Government should first vaccinate its own people rather than sending these shots to foreign countries.

Mr Anil Desai of Shiv Sena demanded that the Government initiate drive to vaccinate the elders and physically challenged people at their residence.

Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said that the Health Minister should take a note of it and also added that the Government has to take care of various aspects of the vaccination drive.
