    Nasty fatigue on longtime LCHF

    Hi guys!

I've been on LCHF (~75-100g carbs/day - lots of veggies and healthy fat - dabbled in fullblown keto for a while) for about a year now. I have had massive success with this diet and lost a bunch of weight while never being hungry.

But over the last couple of months, I have felt fatigue getting a grasp on me and it has gotten so bad now that I go through almost every day tired and lethargic. I have tried many, many supplements and electrolytes and what not. I went to get a check-up at my doctor and everything seems to be fine.

Could the low amount of carbs have taken a toll on my body? I have read that it might place something akin to a chronic stress on the body. If I were to cycle out of low carb, how should I go about it without gaining all the weight back?

I hope you can help me out!

    - Regards

Tbh I'd be a little surprised if you were only just now getting negative side effects of the diet. Generally I'd expect that to happen fairly early on.

BUT, it is very possible, since fatigue is one of the most common downsides to LCHF.

Weight management is all about calories. Just eat at maintenance and you'll maintain your weight, regardless of carb intake. You'll probably gain a bit of scale weight early on from glycogen / water, but it won't be actual fat and should level off quickly.

    Thanks!

Yes I thought so too. Generally it has been a quite all right experience until these last few months. Is it possible that my hormones or metabolism have been disregulated from such a long cut with no real breaks? Or am I just running out of energy due to low carbs but not low enough to enter ketosis?

Anyways will try to switch to maintenance and adjust macros
