Hyderabad: Just as dying by suicide is a quick decision for many people, it is the quick reflex and reaction of the police that saves many people from ending their lives. And this is what the mobile patrol staff of the Kushaiguda police managed to do in the early hours of Tuesday morning when they rescued an elderly man who was allegedly trying to die by suicide in Kapra Lake.

The patrol mobile staff received a call from Dial 100 at 1am warning them about a 57-year-old elderly man leaving his home. Relatives told police that the man, after an altercation with his wife and children, left the house and said he was going to jump into Kapra Lake and die. Immediately, the mobile patrol staff, including assistant inspector M Shankaraiah, women constable K Nagamani and manager Srinivas immediately rushed to the scene. That they were already circling helped them reach the area within five minutes.
