04/11Ways to manage sibling fights
Here are some ways your manage your kids when they fight with each other.
05/11Locate the cause of the fight
Whenever a sibling fight arises, the first thing any parent should do is to identify the cause of the argument. Locate the triggers so as to come to a conclusion.
06/11Do not pick sides
Treat all your children equally. Do not make one feel more guilty over the other, as it may elongate the process of reaching a common ground.
07/11Avoid negative comparisons
Apart from that, you must never engage in negative comparisons. That is, avoid putting one down and praising the other, as it may hurt the feelings of the former and may trigger him or her to react accordingly.
08/11Step in only when it's needed
Do not involve yourself in all the sibling fights. Until and unless the situation is heightened and cannot be solved by the kids themselves, do not rush in to help. instead let them handle it.
09/11Listen to both the sides
When you step in finally, listen to what both the sides have to say. Do it without any bias.
10/11Ask them to suggest solutions
Instead of resolving the issue, let them brainstorm and come up with a solution. This might help them realise how unnecessary the fight was after all.
