Big news for those looking to pick up Apple's latest flagship phones: both the iPhone 12 and 12 mini have £40 off over at Amazon, Very, and Currys PC World (with code IPHONE40).

This is the biggest discount we've seen on these phones since launch. We've previously seen £20 off the iPhone 12 mini, but nothing more drastic.

The £40 discount reduces the iPhone 12's price as follows:

These are the reduced prices for the iPhone 12 mini:

  • 64GB - Was £699, now £659
  • 128GB - Was £749, now £709
  • 256GB - Was £849, now £809

The iPhone 12 mini launched last November with the 12 Pro Max, following the release of the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro on 23 October, 2020. The range marked Apple's entrance into the 5G market.

It's not entirely surprising retailers might be gearing the 12 mini for clearance. The discount comes after Apple poised to slow the production of the 12 mini in order to step up production of the iPhone 12 Pro, which remains the most popular handset in the series – although much more expensive, with a starting price of £999 for the 64GB option.

If that's not cash you're willing to part with immediately, the standalone iPhone 12 remains an excellent handset.

The 12 is incredibly fast, thanks to the A14 Bionic processor, and features an excellent 6.1in OLED. Cameras are similarly impressive and can handle most conditions. You just don't get the optical zoom and Night Mode of the 12 Pro – but these are only minor drawbacks.

In our review, Macworld Editor David Price called it "almost indistinguishable from the 12 Pro in all the key areas" and gave it 4.5/5 stars, along with a Macworld Editor's Choice badge.

Head on over the Amazon, Very, or Currys PC World to save £40 on the iPhone 12 phones.
