LUDHIANA: The rural police in Ludhiana district of Punjab have arrested three people after recovering 4kg heroin and Rs 37 lakh cash from their possession.
The accused were identified as Balwinder Singh, a resident of Khadoor village, his wife Neelam and her sister Harpreet Kaur.
SSP (Rural) Charanjeet Singh told TOI that the Crime Investigating Agency's (CIA) Jagraon team had received a tip-off on the drugs racket following which a case was registered against the accused under various sections of the NDPS Act at Jodhan police station.
Singh said the trio was arrested from Khandoor and the contraband, money and a scooter without a registration number were seized.
