Ucassaim VP issues stop-work notice for borewell construction

The Ucassaim-Paliem- Punola panchayat on Tuesday issued stop work notice in connection with the illegal construction of a borewell which was going on in the panchayat jurisdiction.

Taking cognizance of grievances of women and local panchayat members Ucassaim panchayat on Tuesday issued a stop work notice for the borewell under provisions of the Goa Panchayat
Raj Act 1994.

The deputy sarpanch of the Panchayat Deepali Haldankar in a letter has asked the defaulter to furnish ownership document and permission if obtained from authorities failing which necessary action will be initiated under provision of the Goa Panchayat Raj Act.

It may be recalled that on Monday a group of women from Ucassaim area approached sarpanch Anand Gadekar at the panchayat and raised their grievances over the alleged construction of a borewell which was being constructed without
any permission.

Local residents including women raised their voice over the ongoing water woes in the panchayat and said that four years ago the panchayat had passed a resolution that no permission should be given for construction of borewell in the village. Local residents went to the panchayat after they came to know about the borewell and demanded action.
