Odisha: Petition filed before OHRC on VIMSAR ragging issue

BHUBANESWAR: Ragging Free Campus Abhiyan (RFCA), a social forum, on Monday filed a petition before the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) here on the ragging incident at the VIMSAR Burla.
A delegation led by RFCA convenor Tejeswar Parida filed this petition. He said this incident, which occurred on March 10 midnight for about three hours up to 3 am in the VIMSAR hostels, was reported by the junior students to the anti-ragging helpline at Delhi.
RFCA lodged the complaint before the OHRC against the senior students and the authorities of the institution responsible. The commission has served notice to Sambalpur SP and registrar, VIMSAR on this complaint of ragging.
RFCA has also submitted a set of very vital suggestions to the OHRC to prevent ragging in academic campuses. The next hearing of this matter will be held on April 26.
