A model has reportedly spent £5,000 (approx Rs 5 lakh) to reduce the size of her forehead by 3cms, which she thought was too huge. For 10 years, Camila Coleman Brooks used her fringes to hide her 8.5cm forehead as she disliked it the way it looked. The average female forehead in the US measures about 6cm, while Coleman’s forehead was 8.5cm. Coleman is 26-years-old and mother of two.
She underwent the forehead reduction surgery which went on for two-and-a-half hour. Her hairline was moved reducing her forehead by 3cm. “I used to look in the mirror and all I would see was a huge forehead,” Coleman was quoted as saying. She said when she was younger, she would style her hair in a way so that her huge forehead was disguised.
She was using fringes or hats to hide it, but now after the surgery, she is pretty much satisfied. “I didn’t need the procedure to make me happy, but I love how I now look,” she said. She said she was never bullied about her forehead, but she herself didn’t like it.
“Having surgery was something I wanted to do for myself. It wasn’t that I didn’t like how I looked, I just wanted to be more proportional.”
In February, Coleman decided to put an end to all her hacks and go for a surgery instead and headed to a clinic in Ohio. Here, a part of her skin was removed to reduce the size. The doctor made an incision along the hairline and carefully removed a part of it.
First few days after the surgery were difficult as she could’t move her eyebrows properly. But now she is on way to recovery. “The top part of my forehead is still numb and it may take a while for the feeling to return there.”
The scar also remains, but should be healed in some weeks. Nonetheless, she is loving her new look.
