BELOW REFERENCES OVERALL ASSEMBLY IN THE ATTACHED FOLDER; THE ASSEMBLY FILE TITLED "Desk Fan"...
Hi all,
So in the referenced assembly file, I'm looking for SUBASSEMBLY Front to be able to move relative to
(intentionally fixed) SUBASSEMBLY Frame as I have it laid out in LimitAngle1. However, I'm unable to move it at all, and I'm having a hard time finding any mates that would prevent it from rotating.
Can anyone see where I went wrong?

1.) Do you think this'd work better because the two plane entities of the angular limit mate are coplanar/coincident to start?
2.) I tried editing LimitAngle1 by removing the plane from the frame as a reference and replacing it with a new plane at the pivot parallel to the Top Plane (exactly as shown in your last image). It's still behaving in the same fashion, however!
I've replaced the attachment on my post with "Mate_Errors_Back Subassembly_Forums_ii", which has my assembly as it currently stands. Any

1) Yes
2) Except that is not the only change you made. You added Parallel2 mate that locks the pivot movement. But you knew that right, this was a test? If not, in the case of your back sub assembly which mates with the front sub assembly, which you are trying to pivot, it is best to not mate to the other sub assemblies. If you do not like that idea then create your parallel mate using the right plane in your small pattern part.
Solid Air is probably right. I seldom need Limit Mates in my work, but from my limited experience they do seem to be finicky. However, I suppressed the two coincident mates in the sub-assembly and replaced them with a single symmetric mate. After doing that it still shows to be fully defined in the tree, but I can move it with my cursor (and it shows the Rebuild symbol after every time I do that). I'd suggest trying a different type of limit mate.
I've never used a symmetry mate. But I replaced the two coincident mates with one width one with the same result.
After looking into symmetry mates, I don't see how it would really apply here?
From my experience, the selections are too far apart for the mate to work effectively (as I said my experience).
I did find out however that if you change the initial mate to 30 degrees (other values may work too) the mate will work as desired.
My recommendation is to create a plane at the pivot in the base extrusion model and mate to that. I believe the mate will have a less chance of locking up.
